Biography

Latrice C. Pichon, PhD, MPH, CHES is a Full Professor at The University of Memphis, School of Public Health in the Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences. She is a proud HBCU graduate from Xavier University of Louisiana earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology pre-medicine and minor in chemistry.  She obtained her MPH from San Diego State University with a concentration in Health Promotion and completed doctoral studies in the Joint Doctoral Program in Public Health at University of California, San Diego and San Diego State University in Health Behavior. She received post-doctoral training in community-based participatory research (CBPR) in the Kellogg Health Scholars Program at the University of Michigan School of Public Health and participated in the University of California, San Francisco Center for AIDS Prevention Studies Visting Professor program (cohort 2011-2014). In 2021, Dr. Pichon was honored with both The University of Memphis Research Professorship and the Dr. Roger S. and Mrs. Mary E. LaBonte endowed Professor of Urban Health for her contributions to research, teaching, and community engagement. Dr. Pichon’s research currently prioritizes HIV prevention among Black faith communities and applying CBPR approaches to ongoing EHE efforts in Memphis, TN in partnership with Headliners Memphis and C2P Memphis under the former leadership of Dr. Andrea W. Stubbs. Together their work has been funded by NIH NIMHD, CDC, Gilead Sciences COMPASS Initiative, TDH Office of Minority Health and Faith Communities, and Shelby County Government.
