Biography
Daniel Escudero, PhD, MPH, is an infectious disease epidemiologist in the Division of Epidemiology, Department of Medicine, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC). He earned graduate degrees in Epidemiology and Health Policy from Brown University and Emory University, respectively, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Epidemiology at Harvard University. His research focuses on modeling transmission and prevention of infectious agents, specifically HIV.
Dr. Escudero’s recent work has been centered on developing epidemiological models to estimate the effectiveness of HIV elimination programs and the impact of antiretroviral therapy, and on evaluating HIV linkage-to-care and screening programs, with an emphasis on implementation science approaches. The goal of this research is to provide data that can be used by policymakers to reduce the burden of HIV disease and to better understand the dynamics of disease transmission. His work has taken place in a variety of locations, including the U.S., Botswana, and Canada.
