Dr. Winkfield has served on the Tennessee CFAR Executive Committee since 2021. She is a national expert in community engagement with research focused on the design and implementation of programming to reduce sociocultural and economic barriers that contribute to disparate health outcomes for racial/ethnic minorities and underserved populations. Through community-engaged research, she works with impacted populations to develop interactive programs and educational tools to provide timely and accurate information regarding health and healthcare, and to improve access to clinical research. Dr. Winkfield has a long-standing history of partnering with institutions, organizations and policy-makers to develop strategic plans designed to improve cancer equity. As Executive Director of the Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance, she utilizes her expertise more broadly, to foster relationships and programs to help ensure equitable access to health care and healthcare research for all regardless of race/ethnicity, geographic location, or socioeconomic status.
